These Terms of Service govern your use of MeasuredMoney, a local-first personal finance desktop application.
MeasuredMoney is built around a simple distinction that matters to privacy-conscious users: we license the software, but you retain ownership of your financial data. These terms explain both the limits of the software license and the protections around your information.
By using MeasuredMoney, you also acknowledge our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle licensing, billing, and support-related information.
License
To help us continue developing MeasuredMoney while keeping your data local and private, we license the software under these terms.
MeasuredMoney is licensed, not sold. Your purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software according to these terms.
License Terms
When you purchase MeasuredMoney:
- You receive a perpetual license to use MeasuredMoney
- Your license includes free access to all updates (including major versions) for a minimum of 12 months from purchase
- After 12 months, your license remains valid with critical security updates
- Major version upgrades (2.0, 3.0, etc.) after 12 months available at a discounted price
- Your license remains valid indefinitely, even if development discontinues
- The license is for personal use only (not commercial or business use)
- The license is non-transferable and cannot be sold or shared
Free Trial
MeasuredMoney offers a 45-day free trial:
- Download and use all features for 45 days without purchase
- No credit card required to start the trial
- Your data remains local on your device during and after the trial
- After the trial period, a license purchase is required to continue using the app
Device Limit
Your MeasuredMoney license:
- Allows activation on up to 3 devices simultaneously
- Cannot be shared between multiple individuals
- Requires a one-time online activation per device; after activation, no periodic validation is needed.
- We may deactivate a license via our licensing system if detected sharing or fraudulent use
Refund Policy
We offer a 15-day money-back guarantee under the following conditions:
- Refund must be requested within 15 days of purchase
- Your license will be deactivated upon refund
- Refunds are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, through the original payment method used for purchase
User Responsibilities
As a user of MeasuredMoney, you agree to:
- Keep your license key confidential and secure
- Back up your data regularly
- Use the software in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Restrictions
You may not:
- Use MeasuredMoney for commercial or business purposes
- Copy, redistribute, or sell the software
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the software
- Share your license key with others
- Attempt to bypass device limits or license validation
Updates
We may provide updates to the software. These updates may add or remove features and are subject to these terms.
Update Policy
- Free updates (including major versions) for 12 months from purchase
- After 12 months: critical security updates and discounted major version upgrades
- While we are committed to long-term development, we reserve the right to discontinue if the product becomes financially unsustainable
- Your license remains valid for the software you have, regardless of future development status
Data Backup
You are solely responsible for backing up your data. MeasuredMoney stores all data locally on your device, and we cannot recover lost data. While the software includes backup functionality, we are not responsible for any data loss.
Communications
You may receive communications from us regarding:
- License key delivery and account-related information
- Product updates and security notifications
- Customer support communications
We use your email solely for license delivery and support. We do not send marketing emails or share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
Termination
We reserve the right to terminate licenses for violation of these terms or fraudulent activity. Upon termination:
- Your license stops working
- You must cease all use of the software
- Your data remains accessible in your local database for export
- No refund will be provided if termination is due to a violation of these Terms

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We make no warranty that:
- The software will meet your requirements or expectations
- The software will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Any results or calculations provided by the software will be accurate or reliable
- Any errors in the software will be corrected
We are not responsible for any financial decisions made using the software. The software is a tool for tracking and visualization only, and should not be considered financial advice. You should consult with qualified financial professionals for advice about your specific circumstances.
IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP.
Privacy and Data Collection
MeasuredMoney:
- Stores all financial data locally on your device
- Does not transmit your financial data to our servers
- Uses Frankfurter API for currency conversion (sends only currency codes)
Offline Functionality
MeasuredMoney is designed to work offline:
- No internet connection is required for regular operation after initial license activation
- All features remain fully functional without internet access
- A one-time online activation is required when first installing the app on a new device
Data Ownership
You maintain full ownership of your financial data. You can export your data in CSV format at any time. We claim no ownership over your information or records.
For clarity: these terms license the MeasuredMoney software to you, but your budgets, transactions, reports, and other financial data remain yours.
Third-Party Services
MeasuredMoney utilizes the following third-party services:
- Polar: For license validation and payment processing
- Frankfurter API: For currency exchange rates
Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for their availability or performance.
Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of India.
